If you’re a fan of spicy, then you’ll love this habanero salsa! It’s made with fresh ingredients, so it’s got that refreshing salsa flavor with a big kick.
TIP: If you like the flavor, but the heat, remove the seeds from the habaneros. You can also decrease the number of habaneros and increase the carrots.
INGREDIENTS
5-6 habanero peppers, stemmed
2-3 garlic cloves, halved
1/4 cup yellow onion, diced
1/2 cup sliced carrots
1 Tbsp fresh cilantro
3 oz fresh lime juice (1 medium/large lime)
1/2 tsp kosher salt
2-4 oz water (depends on desired consistency)
HOW TO MAKE
-In a small skillet (I used cast iron), roast the habanero peppers, onion, carrots, and garlic on medium heat until lightly charred (about 10 mins.)
-After roasting, let cool for 5 mins.
-In a food processor, add roasted ingredients, cilantro, lime juice, and salt.
-Process until incorporated.
-Add 2 oz of water, and process again until consistency is smooth.
-Continue adding water 1 oz at a time until desired consistency/thickness.
-Taste test, and add more of any ingredient desired.
-You can serve immediately, but I highly recommend letting it refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours first.
